Changing your broadband provider or upgrading to fibre?
- 9 November 2016
From conversations with our customers, we know that many of you have changed your broadband provider recently, or are contemplating setting up a new contract with a different company. Could we ask a favour? If you are planning to make this change or upgrading to Fibre, please contact us first and we can help to make the transition as smooth as possible. There’s a good reason and here’s why.
We know from some of our customers that changing broadband provider has not been without its problems. This has been caused by the type of router provided by suppliers, usually Technicolor or BT Hub. These routers cannot connect VPNs, so if your business operates from multiple sites the branches would be unable to sync and, of course, we are prevented from dialling in. If you’ve experienced these difficulties, we sympathise.
To get up and running without all this stress, you will need to purchase a new DrayTek Vigor 2860n router. We can supply this to you. The popular DrayTek 2600/2800 series is no longer compatible and if you are looking to upgrade to Fibre Broadband, Series 2820/2830 routers do not work without a BT Open Reach modem. And yes, you’ve guessed it, BT doesn’t supply them anymore.
So, the moral of the story is to involve us a soon as possible if you are thinking about changing your internet provider or upgrading to Fibre Broadband. We will make sure you are set up correctly with the right router and don’t experience any unnecessary downtime.
We look forward to hearing from you.
